Picturing Home: Housing as Harm Reduction

A zine featuring four interviews and somatic exercises about housing justice and harm reduction.

What does home mean? What has it meant in the past, and what could it mean in the future? Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, efforts to stay safe and healthy have called on people to stay home. But what about people without a home, in congregate homes, in prison, or in other carceral settings?

Picturing Home: Housing as Harm Reduction spotlights the lived experiences of 4 individuals—Rashidah Abdul-Khabeer, an anonymous Camp Teddy Resident, Salahudin Abdul Basir, and Moses Santana—as they navigate and/or witness the need for secure housing in Philadelphia. Interviews and somatic exercises bring together topics about home, health, and agency through the lens of harm reduction.
